02/12/2010Free training for Mature Age workers (55+)
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) has recently announced a new funding program to the value of $7.68 million for the Experience+ Training program over the next 4 years.
To be eligible for the funding, employers must employee at least one apprentice or trainee, and must also employ a mature age worker (55+ years) under an Award or Certified Agreement for at least 15 hour per week. Small business owners who are themselves mature age workers may also qualify, so long as they employ at least one apprentice or trainee.
Eligible employers can apply for $4,950 to pay for, or contribute to, the cost of approved training for a mature age worker. The employer must nominate their preferred course prior to commencing the application process. Some recommendations are a Certificate IV or Diploma in Frontline Management, Project Management or Management.
This is an ideal opportunity for self-employed Tradespeople who are running a small business.
